WIWS: Flying Solo on Mother's Day

A happy and blessed Mothers' Day to all you mamas out there, both the physical and spiritual kind! Linking up with Fine Linen & Purple, as usual.

Annie had a bug this week, and I've kept her home from everything this weekend (aside from walks outside - it's been too nice out, albeit hot), so we decided to tag team mass today. Annie was up with the birds (literally - 5am. Thankfully she went back to sleep after some rocking.) Since I was up, I decided to go to the 7am (yawning all the way through mass, but hey, I heard an entire homily for the first time in... months!). Annie was a dream, because she was indeed, at home and dreaming (I assume she has enough sensory experience at this point to have dreams). Michael went to the Latin mass later on, and he also remarked on the homily - it's amazing what you pick up on when you don't have a squirming toddler in your lap! Not that I would rather have it this way - it was a necessity and was nice enough for a day, but I try not to mind the usual inconveniences because we go to mass as a family.

So here's what I wore on this "flying solo" Mother's Day:

Sleeveless lace top: Merona (Target), a few years ago; I know, sometimes they surprise me!
Cardigan: Spense; um, probably thrifted?
Skirt: Talbot's
Scarf: flea market? I honestly don't remember
Earrings: Chloe & Isabel; an anniversary gift!
Our 2nd anniversary was last Monday (Cinco de Mayo - Makes it easier to remember :) I hinted to my hubby, via my SIL who sells Chloe & Isabel jewelry, that I'd like some new earrings, since I pretty much never buy myself jewelry anymore.

These are what he picked out, and I love them! I don't have a lot of gold jewelry, but my engagement and wedding rings are gold, so I'm trying to broaden my options. These go with everything, as the stone is almost like opal (birthstone!) or mother of pearl, and reflects lots of colors.

Anyway, you should go check out the boutique, especially if you need a gift for a mother (or are maybe requesting something for yourself :), a gift for a graduate, etc.  She even has a whole Earrings Under $40 page. They are really unique, high quality, and there's something for every taste.

On a side note, browsing around today I came across this piece by Ven. Fulton Sheen about Mary, Motherhood, and the Home. I just glanced through it, but I hope to go back and read it more in depth - I love his writings, and find them great for meditation. They're deeply spiritual, but not too much for this mama brain that's lost some cells over the years :)

Enjoy your week, and take some time to relax!
