7QT on My Feast Day!

Today is the feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne! This is a special feast for the girls in my family, as my grandmother, mother, sister, her daughter, and myself all have the middle name Anne (after Mary's mother), and then we named our daughter Anne because Michael didn't want to "waste it" on a middle name ;)

Sketch by Leonardo di Caprio..I mean, di Vinchi, depicting St. Anne with Our Lady, Christ and John the Baptist. This hangs in our living room.
Several of the "Anne"s in our family.

So, I missed yesterday's link-up at the Clan due to a last-minute adventure (see below), so here are my "askew" pictures.

I *usually* find hand-washing dishes to be therapeutic. Except when there's a screaming infant nearby. Color me strange.
View from one of the parapets of Chartres Cathedral in France, from our trip last fall.
I like the colors and lighting of the first picture, and the second is just a cool shot from the roof, probably a view that not many people get when they visit Chartres. You have a gargoyle, dudes on motorinos, a small European car, and awesome medieval stone structures. Win.

My mom is in the midst of a not-so-fun medical procedure this morning, if you could offer up a prayer for her, I'd appreciate it!

We're attending a friend's wedding tomorrow, Michael is singing in the choir, so I get to keep Annie dearest peaceful throughout, hopefully. It's going to be one of the dressier ones of the summer (late afternoon ceremony/mass, groomsmen are in black tie...) - what can I wear that's dressy enough AND nursing friendly? This will be my project of the next 24 hours. *sigh*

I'm in the process of re-reading The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare in preparation to use it for the 7th/8th Literature Comprehension class I'm tutoring this fall. I forgot how much I like it, and while I've been plowing through Kristin Lavransdatter for several years (picking it up every few months), it's nice to still be reading good literature that's a faster read!

Wednesday was gloriously not-unbearably-hot, so my friends Monica and Megan came over and helped my plant some very sad looking veggies/herbs and flowers in our garden. I'll post pictures when they look a little happier for being planted :) I know it's terribly late to plant things and realistically expect fruit, but hey, if they grow at all, I'll consider it a success!

If the weather couldn't get better, yesterday was absolutely perfect in that I don't think temps reached much above 80 all day, and the breeze had a crisp edge to it (heralding that fall WILL come!) We left the windows open the night before, all day yesterday, and last night - hooray for conserving the utilities bill by turning off the AC! Anyway, I kidnapped my one sister in law and texted the other one to meet us (as a surprise) at the peach orchard, as it was too lovely to not be outside. The peaches were rather under-ripe, but it was a lot of fun anyway! (Warning: photo dump to follow)

Cousins! They're only 10 days apart :)

Um, Annie, I think you need a diaper change...

Haha! Just kidding!

Can't...quite...grab it!

THERE'S that smile! :)
Hugs! (not quite)

Go visit Jen's for some other reviews of the week!

    1. Thank you, from both of us! I know, maybe someday in future years, who knows? Or Evie and Annie should be pen pals, at the very least :)
