Theme Thursday: Rooms
Many of the rooms in our new house are perpetually in a state of some upheaval as we move things around in this semi-construction zone. As a result, I like spending the majority of my day in the main living/dining area. The walls were already red when we moved in, which I probably never would have had the guts to do on my own, but since our furniture and curtains were already neutral, I decided I could work with that.
This is a true-to life (at the moment) picture.
I spy with my little eye...something hungry. And a stack of newly-purchased 2nd-hand books, for referencing while tutoring Literature this fall (need to get on that lesson-planning train). And my totally awesome diaper bag scored FO FREE! from a friend who didn't need it - amazingly it stays on my narrow shoulders more than 1/2 the time, and even comes with strays to convert it into a backpack! Yet for all this, I haven't the faintest why these things retail at $170 - redonkulous, I tell you. I mean it;s cute and innovative in shape and has, oh my goodness, HAND embroidery on one of the flowers. That's probably it: they have to pay some poor soul slaving away with blisters on their hands from the thick needles required to sew through that waterproof material.
What was this post about, again?
Oh yes, rooms! I love early morning and late afternoon sunlight coming through those white curtains. Makes my "I dream for a Pottery Barn house" heart happy.
Go visit Cari and friends to see some more!

Very pretty, and I almost missed the baby!
ReplyDeleteLove that "something hungry" iSpy game. And your rug.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It took me forever to pick it out on Overstock, but I'm glad it works so well in the space.
DeleteYour room looks comfy. Like someone could stop by and feel totally at home.
ReplyDeleteI love how your room manages to feel airy and secluded at the same time. It reminds me of my aunt and uncle's house in upstate New York.
ReplyDeleteIt's so cozy! I love love love reds and you've balanced yours so nicely. I don't use diaper bags, but I would SO have that one!!
ReplyDeleteI love red accents, but I'm not very daring with it as a color - I need to work it into my life more!
DeleteAgree what a beautiful and cozy living room, love the snuggly baby in the corner ~ that is where mine always liked to nap.
ReplyDeleteI love every single thing about this room (even--or especially!--the baby!). I could totally curl up with a book and spend the day in it. It's so cozy and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the dark walls with neutral furniture. I usually go the other way around, but yours really works. Sweet baby makes the room that much better.
ReplyDeleteThat's generally my instinct too, probably because that's how my family's home looks and is what I grew up with - these pieces of furniture sort of came together by chance and then, behold! A red wall in our new house! We'll go with it :)
