It's been several years since I've seen my dad, in person. He passed away suddenly over Christmas break of my freshman year of college, and my life has never been the same. I am
still learning things from him, however, as I grow in my faith and relationships and remember many of the lessons taught and truths instilled in us by he and my mom.
Someone once described my dad as "Land's End comfortable and Brooks Brother's dapper", which pretty much hits his style, both of dress and personality, on the head. His Sunday attire of choice was usually dress khaki pants, dress shirt, tie and a navy blazer.

My dad left his legacy in my siblings and myself - I see him now in each of my three brothers as they care for their families and strive to follow Christ. I see him in my sister's incredible strength in the face of adversity. I see him in my mom's undying love and prayers for every aspect of our lives.
I consider myself incredibly blessed to have met and married a man who shares many of my dad's qualities: he's passionate about the things he cares about, he takes his role as head of our domestic church very seriously, he works hard and is currently enduring a long commute so that we can raise our family in a good environment, he would do anything for his family, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. : )

Michael rewiring Annie's swing so we can plug it in and not waste lots of batteries! Twue wuv.
|
Seriously, though, this thing is awesome, and Annie loves it so far.
One of my favorite things is watching him with Annie, only I always forget to go grab the camera! But here are a few, some of them are reposts, I know.

Only a couple days old, and she's had Daddy wrapped around her finger from the start.

I love the total abandon of sleeping babies - this is how God wants us to be in His arms!
I am supremely grateful for all the dads in my life, including my friends' fathers who have practically adopted me into their families. God always provides.
Linking up with
the Clan for this weeks theme - head over there to appreciate some other awesome dads!
I can't believe he got that swing rewired. Practical skills! You married a keeper!
ReplyDeleteHooray for dads, both here and gone ahead. Thank you for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, what Cathy said. A toast to your dad!
