Wow, this weekend has been HOT - Saturday Annie and I had some QT while Hugh napped, with a trip to the flea market and then some time outside at our house. But boy, it was kind of brutal out there. Sunday started out better, but an afternoon downpour left it very humid and sticky: you could cut the air with a knife.
So, for temps like these, cool is key:
 |
Annie: smocked dress from Zulily, last year. Hat: Dollar Tree!
My top: Merona, probably my "prettiest" Target find, ever
Skirt: Talbots
Shoes:...Ruche had them originally, not in my size, but I found them elsewhere through endless online searches. They were my dancing heels for our wedding, since I wore ballet flats the rest of the time. I know, totally the opposite of what most people do. #tallpeopleproblems
Hugh: Pants are Gap seersucker, thrifted, Shirt is... from somewhere, also thrifted |
Annie's umbrella makes another appearance. She asked for it when I said we were going to take a picture... maybe it'll be the prop of choice from now on? Such a goof. Why am I posing in this weird ending-backwards position? I don't know. Probably because Hugh is a sack of potatoes throwing his weight around because he was SO ready for a nap. I also just slouch funny whenever I wear heels now, because I don't wear them nearly as much as when I was working, so I always feel too tall.
We took something of a family day today (I know, shouldn't every Sunday be such? But we didn't go out anywhere, etc.), since Michael's been working a LOT on our basement and various other projects, and his quality time with the kids aside from dinners and bedtime has been minimal. We
did have
Hannah, her husband, and two cute munchkins over for dinner, with time in the kiddie pool and sandbox for the kids. Did I get pictures? Oops... next time.
These were from before bedtime:

| Our local mechanic, very interested in the working of this stoller |
 |
| So close to crawling! He gets himself up and rocks back and forth, or balances on opposing hand and knee while reaching for things, or gets up on his toes like he's doing push-ups. It's pretty funny, I'll be sad when he actually does crawl because this in-between stage will be over! |
 |
| Daddy's fuzzy hair! |
 |
| Delight. |
 |
| Scooting baby! |
And to close, my first GIF animation experiment! Scooting baby - I think this is great swimming preparation.
Linking up with
What I Wore Sunday - hope you had a lovely weekend!
Cecilia has a dress similar to that from Zulily, too! I bet we shopped the same event, because there was *one* a while back where dresses like that were actually reasonably priced ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the pink and lace! Somehow I've never had the slouching in heels problem ;)
Yea, probably! I stalk the smocked outfits sales they have, but even still, no way am I paying $50 for a child's cotton dress! Granted, they're usually super-long with big hems so you can get 2 seasons out of them, but still.
DeleteMy closest friends growing up were all between 5'2" and 5'4", I think, so I slouched A LOT. My mom threatened to put me in a back brace.
