Come vintage "window" shopping with me!

I was, what I like to call "Windows" shopping last night - browsing around online, maybe putting things in my "cart", then closing out and not actually buying anything. No special box coming in the mail this week, but it can be fun, nonetheless :)

One site I like to hit up every now and again, because sometimes I find a great deal, is Ruche. They specialize in vintage-y pieces, somewhat like ModCloth, but I've had better luck finding longer skirts and such on Ruche. Items do run on the pricey side, I've only ever bought anything on sale, but they have more unique pieces than you find at most retailers, if you like that sort of thing (incidentally, they're currently running an extra 40% off sale items deal, use code: EXTRA40).

They have a cool outfit maker feature - sometimes it helps to see a top and bottom in the same place to know if you'd like them paired together! You can also add things to an Amazon wish list from their site, which is handy around your own birthday or Christmas :)

Remember my Stitch Fix post last week, with the picture at the end of my thrift store finds? Proof that you can get this look for less!
Theirs

Mine!

Granted, the stripes on my shirt are larger, I didn't accessorize, etc. But it's comforting to know I can put a "look" together without even knowing it!

I'm really loving some of their skirts this summer. I've made a lot of my own skirts and dresses in the past, but time to do that is at a premium these days. And putting in all those pleats in this skirt would be a little tedious...
Ruche: Southern Blossom Skirt in Mustard; $42.99
I've been wanting a skirt in this color, since it's lacking in my wardrobe, but I don't think I can pull it off close to my face in a shirt or sweater. Currently only Large is in stock, but I've asked them to notify me if my size is restocked, and hopefully the cost will go down by then, too ;)

Off the Path Printed Midi Skirt; $48.99
Super-cute. And long! It would probably be pretty easy to make, instead of that price.

Sunday Tea Scalloped Skirt: out of stock!
Sadly, out of stock, but I can see why! The color and fabric are perfect for this style. Maybe I'll hunt through my fabric stash for a stiffer material to make a similar, in a different color, probably, since I have a skirt similar enough to this.

Carried Away Floral Dress; $48.99
If I were shorter and this were cheaper, I might consider it for summer wedding attire. Easy, breezy, nursing-friendly! Also only stocking Large.

Museum Tour blouse; $44.99
Also too pricey for me, and only a Large is in stock, but doesn't it look so delightfully cool for summer?

Chapman Polka Dot blouse; $52.99
Way more than I'd ever pay for a top, but isn't it cute?! I have some fabric around in this exact print that I need to use up for something. I made Annie a backpack with it, the rest may be destined for a fall dress for her, or a throw pillow, or something...

Ruche: Tea Garden Midi Dress; $58.99

Not my favorite price tag, but if you're willing to spend it, you could get a lot of use from this dress. Nursing-friendly (button-down), could probably be early maternity, definitely post-partum. Pair it with a cardigan and flats for Sunday or a garden party; swap those out for some dangling earrings, or a long necklace, heels, and a fabulous floppy hat for a summer wedding.

Ruche: Fine Dining Cheese Markers; $24.50
These would make a fabulous hostess or wedding gift for someone who likes cheese. Or doesn't even know they like cheese yet - throw in some fancy cheeses to put them to good use!

Mr. & Mrs. Luggage Tag set; $19.50 on sale, plus 40% off with code: EXTRA40
These would be a great wedding gift or add-on present for the jet-setting couple, or an anniversary present for those who really just need to take a vacation! You could wrap them up with a gift certificate or Groupon for a night or two away at a B&B with your hubby as a Father's Day treat :)

I haven't bought any of these, but maybe you got some inspiration for gifts or fun styling!
Do you ever just window shop online? Please tell me I'm not the only one!

  1. I do!!! All the time!!! Way better than buying a ton of stuff - Andrew thinks I'm crazy, but I find it really fun and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!
