Saturday Takes?

So, this was supposed to be a Quick Takes post yesterday, but never really materialized into more than a few random tidbits, with this being the main gist of the thing:

For those of you who are pros in the math department, yes, when I wrote this post back in February, I was, indeed, pregnant (like, 8 weeks!) and should have taken a test before writing anything! The fact is, so many of them had been negative for so long, I just figured that I'd have to wean Annie completely before we could even hope to be expecting again. And since I have been blessed to not really get morning sickness wither either (maybe more fatigued, eating everything in sight, and heightened sense of smell, but those didn't really cue me in because winter blues = Mama eats lotsa cookies), I didn't even think of the possibility until after I wrote that post. God definitely has a sense of humor!  ;)

Baby #2 at 14 weeks!

I'm currently almost 17 weeks along, and feeling relatively good, aside from annoying daily and somewhat debilitating headaches, which is new for me (in general, and while pregnant).  Any and all prayers that they would go away would be appreciated! Hopefully they're just tension-related, and not anything more serious.

Annie, meanwhile, is currently suffering from... something, which is making her poor tummy rather upset. She's also boycotting most foods, which is making it difficult to wean her (hard to consume enough nutrients for 3 people over here!) Went to the pedi yesterday and he thinks it's a stomach virus that just needs to run its course. I guess it could also be teething-related. Anyway, trying my best to keep her fed and hydrated - I'm attempting coconut juice/water, as she seems to like that better than the super-sweet Pedialyte.

In other news, ditto to Hannah's post which highlighted the oh-so-delish strawberry loaf bread recipe that she made. She told me about it during a lunch date the other day, and after some poking around online I found it and made some straightaway! As it made 2 loaves, I followed the recipe with one, swirling jam into the top, and with the other I swirled some melted cream cheese into the top instead. I have yet to decide which I liked better: the former definitely packed the strawberry punch, but the cream cheese lent a nice flavor to the other. I might just have to make them both again. ;)

And finally, I can't believe that Lent is more than 1/2-way over - I'm actually kind of bummed, because I feel like I haven't been able to delve into the season as much as I wanted to. I never started my Jesus of Nazareth book, I haven't actually made it to stations at any of the local churches; we tried last night, and were miraculously on time! Or so we thought... they started at 7, not 7:30. I was rather upset when we walked in and heard the priest say "The 13th station...". !!!! I love stations as a way to participate in Lenten liturgy. I'm hoping to make it next week, though: in college we did "Superstitions" once during Lent, and what makes them "super" is that the choir sings polyphony or hymns between each? Maybe every two? station(s). And they are happening next week! Annie loves choral music, so she will probably behave even if it's past her bedtime. Or that's my sincerest prayer.

Have a lovely Saturday - hoping to enjoy some sunshine today :)
