So it begins - Stepping off the Porch

Salutations, blogging world! This is really my first "in earnest" sojourn into the world of blog-writing, so please have patience as I figure all this out - time to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new and challenging adventures!

My name is Beth and I'm married to this wonderful guy named Michael.
We are 20-something traditional Catholics, married for just over a year and living in beautiful Virginia. We recently welcomed the latest and greatest addition to our lives, Anne Miriam, and this is from the day she was born, at the beginning of March. She was an itty bitty 6 lb. 19.5 in. bundle of love, arriving 11 days early in a surprising way, but that's a tale for another day.
From day 1, Annie has had daddy wrapped around her long little fingers, and we couldn't be more blessed to have her in our lives!
Her arrival prompted me to hang up the pumps and pencil skirts, quitting my day job as an administrative assistant (which I loved, don't get me wrong, just not as much as I love this munchkin), and home I went to put on flip flops and my comfy capris. Through a quick series of prayers, opportunities and blessings, we bought a house and moved from NoVA and the greater DC area to quasi-rural Virginia - even though it considerably lengthened Michael's commute, it's so worth it for the pace of life and environment for raising a family.

Hence, this blog's title, as we now have a front porch AND a stream which babbles its merry way through our backyard. This is very exciting to me, as I have always and forever wanted a front porch (and being from NJ, VA is considered South: few things are more classic American Southern than front porches). Also, my family's home in NJ has a stream, and my friends and I grew up playing Little House on the Prairie, Narnia, and Anne of Green Gables in our woods and yard (alternately, not all at once - my, wouldn't that be a convoluted storyline! I'll let your imagination run away with that one).

So I welcome you to read along as I embark on this adventure known as motherhood and new-homemaking!

  3. So excited for this!!! Annie will appreciate it when she's older too - one big reason I started the blog was because I wished my parents had documented more of our childhood :)

    1. I admit, yours is a huge inspiration for me to do it - if Rosie has four kids 4 and under and blogs, I can do it too! And now I won't feel like such a mommy blog leech and/or stalker, ha!
