7 Quick Takes the First
A college friend of mine is getting married this weekend, huzzah! ("I love weddings! Drinks all around!" Sorry, I'm a chronic movie-quoter, as is this friend - watch out world! My poor husband, I'll have to find him some friends at the reception...) Anywho, I'm in the bridal party, and if the bonds of friendship didn't prompt me to help out with things like reception hall set-up, the obligations of bridesmaid-ship do, I think. So I'm off with miss Annie to lend what one-handed assistance I can. Unless she cooperates and hangs out *ba bum, clash!* in her wrap carrier, which would be nice. So all this is to say that these takes will be short and sweet.

We went to my cousin's wedding in Louisville last weekend. Thankfully Annie was an angel for the whole trip, sleeping for long stretches in the car and being pretty chill about getting passed around to all the relatives. They did that "All married couples on the dance floor - leave if you've been married less than 24 hours...less than a year...less than 5 years..." etc. and so on, thing. My grandparents (with some assistance) outlasted everyone, as they've been married 70 years! The bride gave Granny her bouquet, which I thought was a nice alternative to the usual toss.
Aren't they super-cute? Paw-paw all dapper in his pinstripe and Granny in her sequins.

Annie has been cooing away, and even tries to sing along (longer coos, and intense concentration!) when we sing to her. And she loves her daddy.
Yes, that is a jerry-rigged play mat, with a toy hanging from a tension rod suspended between the coffee table and the couch. Call me cheap and living on the wild side.

Our peonies are blooming this week! One if the fun things about moving right at the beginning of spring is that your landscaping is kind of like a *good* Pandora's box of surprises: you just have to kind of wait and see what pops up before weeding or ripping out a whole bed of foliage. Behold we have 2 huge peony plants on either end of our porch, although the one is starting to get fried by the intense heat of the past week, as it's in direct sun for the majority of the day. So I've been cutting blooms and taking them inside to enjoy them while they last!

While in line for Confession the other day I was thinking how helpful it would be to have an examination of conscience tailor-fitted to married persons. A Google search (later, not IN line - my phone's not that smart, anyway) showed me that a ha! the USCCB anticipated my need here, which is pretty handy!

Baby bath time! She may hate me for these one day. Oh well, she's just too cute!
Mom, really? I look bald in this one!

Michael's parents have been visiting from CO, and are staying with us to help with some projects around the new house. They've been incredibly helpful, and they dote on Annie every chance they get.

I'm about to reread "The Great Gatsby" for book club, and am curious: have any of you seen the new movie? I'm wondering how it compares to the book - so much of Fitzgerald's greatness is in his writing style, which really can't be conveyed on film.
Well, there you have it - head on over to Jen's for some more fun Friday takes!

Hope the wedding was a success and blessed day! Love the jerry-rigged play mat...will try that out should we be so blessed to have another. ;) Really, bath-time baby is the most precious of pics!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tasha, it was! Lol, well, I'm not patening it as a recommendation, but it's worked thus far! I think I AM going to get her a real mat, though, because the toy hangs too high for her to reach it.
DeleteI know, she'll probably hate me for that one when she's 14. Oh well ;)
Haha love the jerry-rigged play mat! Is it secure enough that she doesn't pull the rod down? You guys are welcome to use ours if you want - whenever you're up here next you're welcome too it, the babies have pretty much outgrown its usefulness. Let me know!
ReplyDeleteWell, she can't quite reach the toy yet, she mostly just looks and waves her arms a lot :) Which is a plus and minus, because I think she's getting to the point when she could start reaching for and grabbing it if it were closer. Aw, thanks - I have one I've been meaning to order from Target (gift card!) but just haven't "finished shopping" yet. I'll let you know, though, if we come out there again first - and I have their newborn stuff to return to you! (sans diapers, although she's nearly out of those, too)
