WIWS: Laetare!

Did you remember today was Laetare Sunday, before getting to church and seeing the rose vestments? I nearly didn't, and was all set in a navy blue dress when my husband reminded me that I should find a pink accessory. Alas, the pinks in my wardrobe are somewhat limited, so changed I did and then had to limit the amount of pink I put Annie in. I could've done pink tights for her, too, but I restrained myself ;)

(PS - want to know why this day is Mothers' Day in England? And get a recipe for traditional cake? See the link above!)

Keeping it real today with toys and stuff in the background.

Coaxed a sleepy grin with the mention of "Donuts!" (Laetare, y'all) to Mr. Grouchy-I-Was-Up-At-6AM-Pants
Are your kids waking up earlier? Because Hugh has been up before 6am, if not before 5am, nearly every morning this week, and Annie's been getting up between 6-6:30 . . . for this preggo mama, next Sunday's time change can't come soon enough! It hits 8:30 every morning and I'm groggily sipping coffee thinking, 'Surely, surely the clock is wrong and it much be at least 10am by now."

Nope. Keep dreaming.

And yes, I drink coffee while pregnant. And wine. Breathe.

Some more "rose" to go with the theme ;)

Michael brought these home for me after I had a rough day this week - they are so sweet! (as is he :)
Annie keeps referring to them as "her" flowers, which is just fine.
Some went by Mother Mary, and some on the counter. They opened up within hours and smell wonderful. Having fresh flowers around the house is one of life's joys.
Linking up with Rosie again this week, pop on over and comment to show some support to the other ladies there!

  1. 1. This makes me want to go out and get donuts NOW.
    2. Mary Claire refused to wear a dress with any pink in it, so I stuck her in Elizabeth's hot pink tights and called it good ;)
    3. We have a jumper the twins share that's reversible - purple on one side, pink on the other. I like to think of it as our "liturgical jumper" ;)

    1. M and I got cronuts and I thought of you! (Annie picked out a sprinkled donut, of course). It was mostly an excuse for M to drop me home after mass and take the kids to the store to give my headache-y self quiet time to make breakfast. And the timing was perfect!
Also, that jumper idea is brilliant. I may have to make Annie one :) We could totally market them! Purple/pink, green/white (with red trim on the white?) #moneymaker

    1. Aren't they lovely? I've been charmed by them all week :) And that vest was a gift, I'm planning to milk it for all it's worth before really warm weather!(St. Paddy's Day, for sure)

  5. It's the sun rising earlier, Beth - daylight savings will help. So says my husband. In the meantime I am depending on more coffee than usual and trying to "embrace the suck" as my BiL says ;)

  6. Yeah, I drink coffee all through my pregnancies, but not wine. Not because I am worried about it, but because I am not much of a wine drinker anyway. You all look fabulous! I'll bet those roses smell divine.
