WIWS (baby edition!) and a Baptism
So I'm a day behind on the outfit post, but I think that's not too shabby for having a toddler and a 3-week-old! *patting self on back* Outfit wise, I carried small so yes, I'm back in lots of my non-maternity clothes, although things with knit stretchy waistbands are pretty much always a favorite. And lots of things are still awkward with the postpartum tummy, hence elongating all shirts with a cami underneath. Actually, that's pretty much a wardrobe staple for all times in my book.
Mass behavior was good on all fronts: Hugh slept through, and Annie was a little squirmy but quiet for Daddy, so that was nice for me. I was actually able to pay some attention, which was a bit different from going to mass solo with both kids all this week. (Lesson learned after day 1: my MO has to be having Hugh in the wrap so that I can have both hands to deal with keeping Annie focused/quiet/from tottering off the kneeled, etc. Today it went surprisingly well - I also have a new-found appreciation for being tall: there's enough lap space for me to have Hugh wrapped in front and have Annie sit on my lap, if necessary.)

Aren't baptisms the best?! And weddings?! and all the sacraments?!
So our little man was officially welcomed into the Church last weekend, and it was just lovely. A bit last-minute in the planning, so a bunch of people were unable to make it, but it's all about the baby, not about me or them or anyone else. Hugh was there, the priest was there, his godparents were there, and he was christened. Huzzah for another Christian! :)
So yes, here goes another photo dump . . . about all I can manage these days as we get used to two munchkins around here. Maybe one day I'll write something profound or funny or anecdotal or . . . just . . . anything! Again.
It was a christening in the Old Latin Rite, so we started with blessing with oils, etc. in the vestibule, then processed into the church ("baptistry") for the baptism portion.

| Godparents: Michael's former roommate, and one of my friends from college (unrelated to each other). Apparently it's tradition that the godmother holds the baby throughout - a nice break for me! :) |
| Hugh pretty much slept through the entire thing. |
We also did the "Churching of Women" ceremony, which I had never heard of/seen done before Michael suggested it as part of Annie's baptism day. I think it's such a neat and beautiful tradition that's been kind of lost along the way. Extra blessings to help you be a good mother? Yes, please!
We also had Father lead us in a consecration of Hugh to Mary's Immaculate Heart - what can I say, just trying to cram in as many awesome Catholic things as possible in one day ;)

Well, until next time, cheerio, and hopefully I'll take some more pictures in the near future! Linking up with Fine Linen & Purple.
PS - Hugh just rolled from tummy to back tonight. At 3 weeks old. Look out world...
You and your family are so beautiful! :) Sorry that we couldn't be there but know that you were in our thoughts and prayers!
ReplyDeleteWe did the "Churching of Women" after Lucie's baptism too. Yay for extra graces! :)
ReplyDeleteEvelyn grew up two sizes in her shoes from May to September so I feel ya on the quick growing feet.
