WIWS: Annie's Birthday Party! *Warning: Picture Heavy*

Annie turned one this weekend! Ridiculous, she's not allowed to be that old yet. Anyway, since it's Lent we decided to have her party on Sunday, the day after her birthday, because we take Sundays a little more leniently in our family.

Rather than bombard our absent family members with 20 emails containing pictures from the day, I just decided to compile some of the best ones in one post so I can send them the link. So, first I'll say what we wore, then picture it up - so if you don't want to scroll through a play by play of the party, feel free to depart! (But some of them are really cute :)

Pink top: LOFT.
Cardigan and skirt: Talbot's
Belt: Ummmm...the Limited? Maybe
Shoes: TJ Maxx - I got the alarm removed!
Necklace: Um, maybe Kohl's? Years ago
Pasty white legs: Longest. Winter. Ever.

Annie's dress and Cardigan: Carter's
Headband: Walmart
A brief interlude of Annie's "official" one-year-old-today pictures, taken on the actual day:

"Baby" is photobombing her model pose. Oh the trials.
Daddy holding her attention.

And now on to the party. I got a little carried away with the Pinterest ideas, and thankfully she won't remember any of it and so won't expect it in the future! Right?

Food had already been consumed before I remembered to take pictures!

Neopolitan cupcakes in the pink, black and white theme. There's a layer of brownie on the bottom (Ghirardelli, from a box), then totally homemade strawberry cake from this recipe, topped with this cream cheese buttercream icing. Oh. My. I know, I know, it's Lent. Everyone who came to our party is doomed to do penance for the rest of their lives. And the 3 leftover cupcakes are sitting on my counter taunting me as I type.

Crazy ornate frame we received as a wedding gift that I had yet to utilize - perfect!

Tissue paper pomp poems are my go-to decorating technique. Cheap, simple, and look so fun!

Flowers from Daddy for his little girl. And yogurt-covered raisins and pretzels (more Lenten than candy, right? Ha)

Now to bombard you with pictures of small children, namely, Annie and her 10-days-older cousin, Sofia, who is much more active and therefore practically running around these days.

This series was just too funny not to post in its entirety:

Annie: Sofia, mom said I could play with the baby!

Sofia: But I want to play with her!

Sofia: Besides, I can stand and pull her away, you have to lean on the table!

Annie: Ohhhh, you're gonna get it!

*Cue adult telling them to share*

Annie: See?! I TOLD you that you were gonna get it!
In all fairness, Annie was probably just making funny noises at Sofia, and they really do play well together :)

Our wonderful Irish priest friend who was visiting VA this week, and stopped by for a bit.

Something was funny, evidently.
Cutie Sofia, enthralled by a cardboard box.
I love her little pigtail! She looks SO grownup here!
As we were singing: Why are you all staring at me?

Tentative first bites of her cupcake, after smearing the icing on her tray.

What? Oh, did YOU want some?

Sorry, it's all mine. Smash.

Presents!
My mom was away and couldn't make it for this party, so she sent a little charm with a voice recording wishing Annie a Happy Birthday - so sweet! Annie had me play it at least 10 times before I put her to bed.
Madeline in board book format! Such a classic.
Uncle Nate also gave her a bear, which she loves :) This was post-bath, as she smeared icing in her hair.

Well, that's a wrap for now. Kudos for you if you're not a family member, or close friend, for making it all the way through that barrage of pictures! It was a great day, full of family and friends, tasty food, and cute babies. What's not to love?

Linking up, kind of, with FL&P, albeit a day late.

  2. Annie had Fr. OK had her party?! Lucky girl! I miss him. It is hard to believe that Annie is one, though, March of last year does seem forever ago when I think about it. God bless the birthday girl! - Kathryn
