WIWS and Other Things
Happy feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica (St. John Lateran)!
The weather has been so finicky this week, most days starting and ending in bitter cold, but warming up enough to be peeling off layers by lunch time. Today was comparatively mild, which is nice, because while I like layering and colder weather, I hate having to pile up all the coats, scarves, gloves, hats, etc. in the pew at mass.
Daylight savings took its toll on Annie's sleep habits, but I think she might be evening out a bit. I must say, having her wake up at 6 instead of 7 was really brutal, because that's usually when I'm usually just getting Hugh back to sleep from a feeding and either (a) catching winks 39 and 40, or (b) trying to grab a quick shower before the days adventures begin.
All that being the case, weekends are really nice having Michael around. I mean, its always nice to have him around, but I think you truly begin to savor weekends as a working single person, and even more so as a married person with kids!
Hugh finally fell asleep at mass, and stayed so for a few hours. Annie often tries to be "helpful" by offering him his paci when he's sleeping. But then she grabs it back and proceeds to tote it around the house with her, and tries to shove it in the mouths of her baby dolls. They both behaved at mass today, though: Annie is getting better about paying attention to what's actually going on - we try to sit toward the front, since when she can see the altar it makes all the difference in her behavior, but it also means a long walk for me if Hugh starts wailing. C'est la vie - today it worked fine! She even spontaneously folded her hands a few times, and tried humming along with the music.
We've been pretty busy this month with continuing to get in the groove of 2 kids under 2, having Michael's parents visit and stay with us, and various autumnal activities. We've been apple picking, to a farm festival/play land with Rosie and her family (so much fun! I think it'll have to be a new annual tradition for us - hopefully I'll get the chance to upload and post picks soon), and to some local events with friends and family.
(PS - Rosie's ready to have Baby #5 any day now. Pray that he comes soon and that everything goes smoothly! :)
I meant to get to Quick Takes on Friday, but it didn't happen, so here's a little photo dump of some of the sights I get to see every day.
Fine Linen & Purple!

Um, both our outfits are totally hodge podge: my dress is a Gap? Maternity/nursing dress (thrifted), topped with grey cardigan from TJ Maxx, jean jacket from... also TJ Maxx? Ariat riding boots that better last the rest of my life. Annie has a white shirt and a green corduroy skirt under that crazy coat. I know, a little Barney with the purple and green, but I like to think of it as pre-Mardi Gras instead ;) And the shoes: she's in love with all things "dots!", so I scored these Gymboree Mary Janes via ThredUp (use my link and get $10 off!)

The lips! And the hair. Be still my heart.
Mischievous? Who, me?! PS - this bunny was mine, was called "Molly" for many years, but is now "Hoppa", along with all other rabbits.

ReplyDeleteHugh is SO cute!! He has a perfect tuft of hair. :)
Oh Annie totally wins the day in that adorable coat with the pigtails! Nothing like little girl style :) You and Hugh look great too!
ReplyDeleteLove the boots and denim jacket!
ReplyDeleteTwo under two at Mass: I remember those fun days! Thankfully, the kids are so cute you soon forget the misdeeds.
